As Affiliated WooWorkers, we have been on the cutting edge of the Woo experience from nearly the very beginning. Our customization work ranges from changing overall styling to sophisticated and in-depth changes that add significant new features to a theme. One example of the former is the SKMB website to the right, and the changes we applied to Woo’s Suit & Tie theme (now discontinued, though it was always a popular choice for law firms).
Much more involved has been the customization we’ve done to Canvas, Scrollider, and Whitelight on behalf of Venture Industries in conjunction with our work on Venture 2.0, an expansion on WordPress specifically targeted for performing arts organizations. Take a look at our Venture case study to get a better look at what we’ve done there.
One other way we’ve been able to utilize WooThemes in an unusual customization way was our work for Grove Printing’s store and management console. We used the (since discontinued) Optimize theme, but adapted it to their storefront (which you can visit and try out) and their private job production manager. Those tools are not actually WordPress, but rather are custom applications built on the CakePHP framework – presented using the world-class design we get from Woo.
What about WooCommerce?
Like the themes from Woo, the WooCommerce free plugin for e-commerce on WordPress is a complex and highly functional tool. While they have done a fantastic job making it something anyone can use to start selling online, if you want to customize how things work or need to use extensions or more complex options, it can be challenging. We have a lot of experience helping clients get started with WooCommerce and we can help you, too. Click here to learn more.
Our Contributions to Woo
Often, we’re using new themes from Woo almost immediately after release. Since all software has bugs, that means we have a good opportunity to catch issues and report them. Usually, when we find a problem, we tell Woo “there’s an issue on line XXX of this file and it can be fixed by the following change.” A patch is often out within a day or two, so our contributions have aided the entire Woo community repeatedly. This is another one of the ways our experience with both programming and design comes in handy.
